I spend time in class with your students teaching a 25 minute lesson. We learn new vocabulary words, stretch our imaginations and, finally, draw what we love about your unique school. I collect the student drawings for the next step.

Using the students’ artwork, I create a mural for your chosen wall that includes drawings from each classroom and embodies your school’s spirit. I’ll sprinkle in filler illustrations of my own to energize the final piece. This is done within 3 days.

After projecting the approved sketch on your wall and chalking it, I paint the mural during class hours so the students can see their art in action. The entire project is completed within 10 days, resulting in a professional, student-lead mural.

I spend time in the classroom with your students teaching a 25 minute lesson.

We cover “Miss Laura’s 3 rules for being an artist:”

  1. Be Brave

  2. Be a Good Listener

  3. Have Fun

We learn new vocabulary words like “client” and “deadline” as we talk about what it means to be a working artist. From there we stretch our imaginations through some visualization exercises and, finally, we draw.

The students are hired by a “client” — your school— and are given an assignment to draw what they love about their school. And they are given a “deadline” — just 8 minutes to complete the exercise.

I collect the student drawings for the next step and explain that art from each classroom will be featured in the mural I’ll be painting at your school next week!

Using the students’ artwork, I create a mural for your chosen wall that includes drawings from each classroom and embodies your school’s spirit. I sift through the pile of pencil drawings to select pieces that are charming, thoughtful and represent themes that show up most in your students’ work.

I’ll sprinkle in filler illustrations of my own to energize the final piece. Once the mock up is finished, I’ll send it to your team for approval.

Then the magic starts.

Once the sketch is approved, I use a projector to put the sketch on the wall and chalk to carefully transfer the kids’ drawings. Now the exciting part: I paint the mural during class hours so the students can see their art in action. I use exterior paint and the finished piece is executed in black with the option to add up to 3 additional colors.

The entire project is completed within 10 days, resulting in a professionally created,
student-lead mural that your school will enjoy for years to come.
